Jasper AI vs Copy AI image

First of all, congrats on whittling down the massive list of AI copywriting tools to just two.

Now for the showdown: Jasper AI vs. copy AI.

Ladies and gentlemen, this contest set for one fall will be for the AI copywriting championship.

In one corner, we have Jasper AI, the reigning heavyweight champion who’s taken down (acquired in business terms) giants like Headlime and Shortly AI.

And in the other corner, we have Copy AI — the people’s champion who’s been taking the copywriting world by storm.

Ding Ding.

It’s fight time. Let’s take a closer look at each one.

Difference between Jasper AI and Copy AI (the quick answer)

The main difference is that Jasper AI is better for writing long-form content, while Copy AI is better for writing shorter copy. The minimalistic editor that accepts freestyle commands, native integration with a grammar checker, SEO tool, and plagiarism checker are some features that make Jasper a better AI writing software.

Jasper AI (previously Jarvis AI and Conversion AI) deep dive

Let’s start with the most powerful feature — Jasper AI is the most flexible, all-purpose AI writing software, in my opinion. There shouldn’t be any noticeable difference in the output quality when you compare Jasper AI and Copy AI since both tools have the same technology under the hood.

Underlying technology

Both use Copy AI, and Jasper AI uses GPT-3, a language model trained on billions of words. They both consistently produce high-quality content. GPT-3 based tools are very different from conventional content spinners that merely shuffle sentences and replace a few words. These tools emulate human writers and create original content. To be safe, I’d still run all AI content through a plagiarism checker.

Jasper AI standout features

Freestyle commands

Most AI copy tools — including Copy AI — follow a form-based approach. So you fill out the fields in a pre-built template, and the software generates copy based on your input. There’s nothing wrong with templates; they usually produce high-quality results since they’re trained on a specific pattern. The challenge, however, is when you need something outside the scope of existing templates.

That’s where Jasper AI stands out with the free-form commands. It’s a massive time-saver because you don’t have to wait for the team to build a new template for your use case.

Use case: if you want to analyze a brand’s voice, copy-paste some of their content into the editor and type the command: Recognize the brand voice in the above copy.

Jasper AI recipes

Jasper also has “recipes” – a series of commands to complete a task. For example, the blog post recipe walks you through the whole blog writing process, from coming up with ideas to publishing your article. You can create your own Jasper command and share it with the community.

Here’s the blog post recipe:
>write a brief for {TOPIC}
>write blog title ideas
>write an introduction
>write a blog outline
>write about {OUTLINE_ITEM_1}
>write about {OUTLINE_ITEM_2}
>write about {OUTLINE_ITEM_3}
>write a blog conclusion on {OUTLINE_ITEM_1}, {OUTLINE_ITEM_2}, {OUTLINE_ITEM_3}

You fill in the blanks and run the commands sequentially to produce a full article.

Jasper AI Boss Mode

With Jasper AI boss mode, you can type in any command you want. You’re not limited to pre-built templates in the library.

For example, if you’re writing a story about your company’s new climate goals, and you want a quote from the CEO stressing the importance of the initiative. All you need to do is type “write a quote from the CEO about our new climate change campaign,” and the software will do the rest. The best part is it’ll take everything you’ve written before as context, so the generated quote will be relevant to your story.

Contextual writing

That’s a nice segue into the “look back” function. With this feature, Jasper AI takes everything you’ve written before as context and generates copy accordingly. You don’t lose the narrative flow because you’re not piecing together unrelated copy chunks. In the base plan, you get a limited look back; in Boss mode, you get much more (close to 3K words). Even some templates come with the option to add context, which dramatically improves the output quality.

Long-form editor

Jasper AI has a Google Docs-style editor perfect for writing long-form content, like blog posts and ebooks. Despite its minimalistic design, the editor has all the features you’ll need. The dark mode is a nice touch.

Integrations

Jasper AI integrates with Copyscape and Surfer SEO. Copyscape is a plagiarism checker, and Surfer SEO is an on-page optimization tool. They’re both useful for content marketers and writers. Boss mode users also get the base Grammarly features and the option to connect their premium account. Jasper AI integrates with Copyscape and Surfer SEO. Copyscape is a plagiarism checker, and Surfer SEO is an on-page optimization tool. They’re both useful if you’re a content writer. Boss mode users also get the base Grammarly features and the option to connect their premium account.

Note: these integrations are sold separately.

Jasper art

With the new product, you simply describe the image you want in natural language, and Jasper uses the Dall-E integration to create a perfectly matching picture. This means you don’t have to scroll through thousands of royalty-free stock images to find an image that complements your content.

Give DALL·E 2 information in the format: concepts, attributes, and styles.

Example

Input:

Concept: a bowl of soup

Attribute: that looks like a monster

Style: spray painted on a wall

Output:

Flexibility

At this point, I’ll start sounding like a broken record, but there is no AI copywriting tool as flexible as Jasper AI. If you can imagine it, chances are you can write it with Jasper AI.

Command template

All you need to do is give it some background information about your topic, and add your Jasper command to the template. Click generate content button and you get the output. The AI-generated content is usually well-written and easy to read. You can add any command you want. You’re only limited by your imagination.

A strong community of content marketers

While it’s not a software feature, the community around the tool is worth mentioning as a stand-out feature. The software has one of the strongest communities I’ve seen. If you run into any issues or need some tips, someone will help you. There’s a good mix of content marketers, bloggers, freelancers, and copywriters in the group.

Jasper AI recipes

Jasper also has a “recipe” feature, where you can use a string of pre-written commands to complete specific tasks. For example, the recipe walks you through the whole blog writing process, from coming up with ideas to publishing your article. You can create your own Jasper recipe and share it with the community.

Collaboration features

If you’re working on a team project, Jasper AI’s collaboration features make it easy to work with others.

Learning resources

The team has developed a lot of content to teach new writers how to use the software and marketing in general. It includes tutorials, certifications, Bootcamp, and office hours designed to help you become a better copywriter.

Other features

  • You can write in 25+ languages.
  • The support team is very responsive and helpful.
  • Excellent user interface.
  • Wide range of templates to generate social media content, persuasive bullet points, blog article product description, and email subject lines to name a few.

Jasper AI pricing

The base plan gets you 20K words at $24/month paid annually, or $29/month if you pay monthly. The boss mode plan gets you 50K words at $49 per month paid annually and $59 every month if you pay monthly. Both plans become more expensive as you add more words.

Cons

At $49/month for the boss mode plan, Jasper AI is one of the more expensive AI copywriting tools on the market. Unfortunately, the price tag puts it out of reach for many entry-level writers, which is a shame because it’s an excellent tool.

Another downside is that Jasper AI doesn’t have built-in SEO features. You’ll need to buy another tool or pay for the Surfer SEO recommendation for SEO recommendations. Also, it has limited integrations with SEO tools other than Surfer SEO, so if you’re already using another software, you’ll have to switch back and forth.

If you’re looking for an AI writer with built-in SEO features, check out my Frase in-depth review. Frase doesn’t use GPT-3, so it doesn’t have any topic restrictions imposed by Open AI.

The user interface is clean and simple, making it easy to find the right template for your project.

Copy AI standout features

Free tools

Copy AI has many free writing tools like SEO title generator, blog title generator, webinar title generator, and bio generator, to name a few.

Free tier

Copy AI has a free tier that gives you 2K credits. You can use the free plan to test all the templates without even adding your credit card.

Blog post wizard

The blog post wizard in Copy AI walks you through the process of writing blog content, from title to complete article. You can even add your focus keywords, and the tool will try to include them in the text.

The largest collection of templates

Copy AI has one of the most extensive collections of templates with over 90 plus options. So whether you’re looking to write a Google ad or Facebook ad, you’re sure to find a template in the Copy AI library.

Cons

Copy AI is one of the best short-form copywriters out there. But, it lacks too many features to be an effective long-form content writing tool. For example, it doesn’t have a text look-back feature, so the text it generates will lack that contextual connection crucial in long-form content writing. The limited tone of voice is another thing I didn’t like about Copy AI. It has a good collection of base tones, but I’d like to have a free selection of tones.

Copy AI also doesn’t have built-in SEO features, and unlike Jasper AI, it lacks direct Integration with any third-party SEO tools.

My recommendation

Jasper AI is the way to go if you’re looking for the most flexible long-form content writing tool. Well worth the price tag when you consider the features and flexibility.

Copy AI is your tool if you only need short-form content, like social media posts, Google ads and emails.
